The Holme Valley

Holmfirth is a wonderful place to visit, with lots of things to see and do. From the last of the Summer Wine Exhibition, go up the hill to see the Holmfirth Vineyard, nip into one of the many fine eateries for a bite, or local hostelries for a pint.

Magdale Dam and reservoirs

A 30 minute walk through sublime countryside and you're at stunning Magdale Dam on the edge of the village of Honley. A five minute drive away is Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, a nature lovers paradise. A magnet for birds, mammals, arthropods, insects, flora and fauna, it provides the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Peaks, Pennines & Dales

From south to north the Pennine chain starts in the area known as the Peak District. In 1951, it became Britain's first designated National Park.

The Southern Pennines is a landscape of large-scale sweeping moorlands, pastures enclosed by drystone walls, and gritstone settlements contained in valleys.
